A BMW E30 Meetup

I recently joined a small social club for DIYers called Wanderwell that recently hosted an E30 meetup with the SoCal Vintage BMW.

The parking lot had everything you’d expect from such an affair: a truck hawking custom keys out front, and an E30 M3 wrapped in something loud enough to shame a traffic cone.
Taking a peek around the lot, I spotted this one. Instantly familiar, because the color looked suspiciously close to Porsche’s Cassis Red. Whoever spec’d the brown interior deserves a medal. Or at least a handshake. It’s the sort of tasteful choice that makes you just nod approvingly. I took far too many photos, mainly because I knew Ari would appreciate the styling.

There were, of course, more M3s with BBS wheels. You don’t attend one of these gatherings to not see BBS wheels.

And yes, I did stop to photograph the obligatory little sticker inside reminding owners to use only genuine BMW parts. A charming corporate way of saying, “don’t even think about saving a few dollars at elsewhere.”

Once the BMWs departed, the Porsches quietly rolled back in. Because of course they did.
